Executive Digital Leadership Program
UNLEASHING DIGITAL LEADERS TO ACCELERATE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
MyDIGITAL Corporation co-curated Executive Digital Leadership Programme with Asia School of Business (in collaboration with MIT Sloan Management)
Kuala Lumpur, 24 August 2023 – The Ministry of Economy through its Strategic Change Management Office, MyDIGITAL Corporation, has co-curated the Executive Digital Leadership Programme (EDL) with the prestigious Asia School of Business (ASB) in collaboration with MIT Sloan Management.
The partnership was formalised in a signing ceremony today between MyDIGITAL Corporation and its Academic Partner, Asia School of Business and Technology Immersion Partners, namely Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, IBM, Microsoft and Shopee. The ceremony was witnessed by Minister of Economy YB Rafizi Ramli and Deputy Minister of Economy YB Dato Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib.
The EDL programme has been co-curated with Asia School of Business with the aim to provide access to empower executives in the public and private sectors with leadership skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a digital economy, to nurture change agents for digital transformation by equipping future and current leaders with forward-thinking perspectives on digitalisation and to cultivate a high degree of understanding of emerging technologies, integration strategies and key elements of successful digitalisation.
The 3-month hybrid programme will bring senior executives from both public and private sectors together through a dynamic learning experience delivered by world-class faculty from ASB and MIT Sloan and complemented by immersive industry insights and experiences from the Technology Immersion Partners. Participants are not only equipped with the necessary technology knowledge, but also the toolkits to drive change in their respective organisations.
“This initiative is in alignment with the Malaysian Digital Economy Blueprint that charts the course for Malaysia to be a digitally enable, technology-driven high-income nation by 2030. We firmly believe that to achieve that goal, agile and competent digital talent is the critical force that will drive digital transformation at all levels and sectors,” said Fabian Bigar, CEO of MyDIGITAL Corporation.
While Malaysia has made substantial progress in digitalisation due to the pandemic especially in commerce and communications, gaps remain in digital adoption in other sectors of the economy.
“Despite 92% of Malaysian organisations consider digital transformation a priority, only 17% have progressed beyond the infancy stage of technology adoption.” highlighted YB Rafizi Ramli, Minister of Economy.
He added, “Through the years, many research papers have asked the question: What is the difference between organisations that have successfully digitalised and those that did not? The key insight was that the critical success factor to digital transformation lies in the leadership.”
Organisations where their leaders at the forefront of transformation are up to 3.1 times more likely to achieve success. This adds to their economic competitiveness as they are mostly to be more agile and robust to effectively response to change.
YB Rafizi emphasised that the EDL programme is not about learning the technical skills for coding for example but about understanding how different technologies work and how to integrate them successfully within the organisation by strategically prioritising it as a top management agenda.
Through the partnership with the Asia School of Business, the EDL Programme participants will have access to lectures and guidance from professors and lecturers at the globally prestigious MIT Sloan School of Management. Upon completion of the programme, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion issued by Asia School of Business in collaboration with MIT Sloan School of Management.
MyDIGITAL Corporation, together with the Ministry of Economy, recognises the need for inclusivity in pursuing growth for the digital economy. To that end, the Ministry and MyDIGITAL are co-funding the EDL program through a tiered incentive scheme to ensure the programme is accessible to as many forward-looking leaders and high-potential companies as possible.
There are 50 seats per cohort and the 1st cohort will begin in November 2023. Subsequently, there will be 5 cohorts per year.
Applications are now open for aspiring digital visionaries and leaders from Malaysia and all over the world are welcome to participate in this program. Please visit https://www.mydigital.gov.my/executive-digital-leadership-programme/ to apply and further details.
