Introduction

How can those impacted by the energy transition be informed and aware of the changes needed to build towards a net-zero future?

The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Malaysia (MYCentre4IR) is taking on this challenge by piloting an energy literacy programme to increase awareness and understanding of the energy transition among the public. In close collaboration with the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), MYCentre4IR is supporting Malaysians to better understand this complex process.

With Malaysia being ranked 40th among 120 countries on its energy system performance under the Energy Transition Index 2023, the programme will uncover the different analyses and framework that went into this ranking and engage the public on what is needed to advance energy equity, sustainability, and security within the energy transition to enable positive economic and social development.

Key Features of the Programme

The Energy Literacy Programme is designed for a mass education platform accessible to individuals of all ages. Curated and developed by MYCentre4IR in collaboration with renowned local and international universities such as National Energy University (UNITEN), Western Sydney University (WSU), Curtin University, and Technology University of Malaysia (UTM), this initiative leverages the expertise of institutions known for their excellence in energy studies, technology, and sustainable development. The courses are available free of charge, with the option to earn accredited certificates through paid courses.

The Energy Literacy Programme is an online self-learning initiative designed to educate individuals of all ages about Energy Transition. It includes courses on energy sources, energy efficiency, and the environmental impact of energy use.
