MyDIGITAL Catalytic Projects Facilitating Game-Changing Technological Innovation For Key Sectors
PUTRAJAYA, 11 AUGUST 2022 – The MyDIGITAL Catalytic Projects Task Force
(CPTF) continues to support private sector innovation, in line with its mission to
facilitate the implementation and adoption of digital technology. Since the first CPTF
meeting held in April 2022, the following initiatives have been undertaken:
- DRONE TECHNOLOGY IN PRECISION FARMING
- To encourage precision farming, approval processing times for Aerial Work Certificates (AWC) for agriculture drone spraying operations is targeted to reduce by 50% through an improvement plan.
- This was done in partnership with MyDIGITAL Corporation, Aerodyne Group, Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM), Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI) and Special Task Force to Facilitate Business (PEMUDAH).
- AUTONOMOUS MOVING ROBOTS
- As an initiative specifically geared for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Intel will introduce Autonomous Moving Robots (AMR) to promote co-working between humans and robots.
Following this, the second CPTF meeting held on 9 August 2022 agreed that smart
solutions (e.g., Smart Highway and Smart Mobility) will be utilised in the
Transportation and Logistics sector to enhance road safety, reduce congestion and
provide a seamless mobility experience to road users.
In the first half of 2022, PLUS Highways recorded approximately 1.5–1.8 million
average daily users and 6,122 accidents. Given the recent increase in road users, the
need to deploy digital technology to manage traffic flow has become more imperative.
PLUS, in partnership with Celcom Axiata Berhad, will leverage on the CPTF platform to identify and effectively address issues regarding the implementation of these
technologies, paving the way for safer highways for the Rakyat.
The CPTF is also supporting the adoption of electric vehicles (EV) in Malaysia, by
facilitating and providing linkages to the Government’s National Agenda of
commissioning 10,000 EV Charging Stations by 2025 under the Low Carbon Mobility
Blueprint (LCMB) 2021-2030.
According to YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister’s
Department (Economy) and Co-Chair of CPTF: “I am pleased to see the CPTF
growing into its role of driving technological adoption in Malaysia in the various sector.
We have proposed a series of discussions and problem-solving workshops to
establish a workable framework track record. Some policy issues will be escalated to
the Cabinet for further discussion to facilitate problem-solving cutting across the
various ministries, industry sectors and technology domains.
“There are various challenges to be solved and the CPTF will ensure that the Catalytic
Projects are fully focused on delivering the intended results of debottlenecking issues
related to regulations and policies in the verticals identified, and creating easier
pathways for other companies within the sector to grow,” he added.
Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim, Council Member of MED4IRN and Co-Chair of the CPTF
said: “The Catalytic Projects under MyDIGITAL are Public-Private Partnerships
(PPPs) which will see the private sector leading and financing projects which need to
be accelerated. The identification of sectors by the CPTF is the first step to establish
a workable framework track-record. We are making game-changing moves which will
unlock exponential growth in transportation, logistics and elsewhere through
technology. I’m optimistic that we will be able to expand into other sectors and spur
other companies to innovate. We urge the private sector to leverage on the CPTF
platform to solve project challenges, and contribute to the MyDIGITAL aspiration.”
The MyDIGITAL Catalytic Projects is a proactive initiative by the Malaysian
Government based on PPPs to accelerate the digital and technological transformation
of Malaysia’s economy. It paves the way for a future where the public and private
sectors collaborate in tackling issues to future proof the economy via technological
solutions.
